Beaches and Coast
Little Haven is home to three safe sandy beaches. The village lies at the head of the small sandy cove that has a slipway for launching small craft. The beach has plenty of small rock pools and sea caves to explore and shells and sea glass to collect. The surrounding seawall is a perfect vantage point to sit with drink and watch the world and their dog go by.
It is possible to walk round the headland at low tide to the adjacent sandy beaches of Settlands and Broad Haven. These are both wide sandy beaches that are great for an impromtu ball game, gentle wander or relaxing lie down. The safe, gently shelving beaches and clear blue water should tempt even the most sea-shy to dip their toes or take on the Atlantic waves.
Broad Haven and Little Haven beach are both accessible by car and have car parking, shops, pubs and toilets nearby. They have been awarded seaside and Blue Flag awards for the quality of the bathing water and beach amenities.
Other favourites beaches to visit nearby include Dale and Marloes sands which are a short drive south of Little Haven. Dale is a very popular base for sailing and windsurfing. Marloes sands is a beautiful, isolated stretch of sand with ancient rocky outcrops along its length. It is rarely busy and out of season if you make the effort to walk to the beach you are likely to have it to yourself with good views out to Skokholm and Gateholm Islands.
Druidstone and Solva harbour are a short drive towards St Davids and both have sandy beaches that can be reached by car or via the Pembrokeshire coast path. Further north, midway between Haverfordwest and St. Davids on the main A487 road, lies Newgale beach. There are two miles of sand and Atantic waves that attract surfers, wind surfers and kite surfers from beginners to experts. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards during the school holidays.
